The blade and handle turns freely. It has an adjustable knob for thickness variation purposes. It has a wooden base. It is mostly made of metal.
The blade might need replacing or might just be a case of needing a clean and smoothing of the edgings. Please study the close-up photos of blade sections for an idea of its condition. It has discolouration.
